Calculate approximate current per cell
As a simplified first check, divide the pack’s continuous current by the number of parallel cells. A 40 A load shared by four parallel cells is approximately 10 A per cell. The final design must also account for unequal current sharing, conductor resistance, ambient temperature, enclosure cooling and cell aging.
Why temperature changes the result
Current creates heat inside the cell and at every electrical connection. A rating achieved in an open laboratory fixture may not be appropriate inside a tightly packed enclosure. Review the manufacturer’s temperature limits, provide suitable spacing and monitoring, and verify the complete pack under its expected duty cycle.
